Single-Nucleus Analysis of Human White Adipose Tissue Reveals Adipocyte Subsets with Distinct Metabolic Profiles

Adipose-tissue mass, location, and function are closely linked to metabolic health. Fragile adipocytes have limited single-cell transcriptomic resolution of adipose heterogeneity. Single-nucleus analysis identified ADIPOMAThi and ADIPOMATlo adipocytes, linked reduced adipogenic and increased inflammatory and profibrotic ADIPOMATlo signatures to BMI and HbA1c, and identified TSHZ3 as a regulator of early human adipogenic differentiation.
